Stop Playing Diversity Merch Now Available!

Writer's picture: Dr. Monica Cox Dr. Monica Cox

Y'all, I finally did it!

After dabbling in aspects of the Dr. Monica Cox brand almost a year, I decided to translate some of the words that people said were resonating with them into merchandise.

I wanted to create tangible deliverables for several reasons. First, I often hear that people feel they can't talk about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the workplace. They fear that they will be retaliated against or won't be heard as a first or only in their environment. My merchandise is a way for someone to sip their coffee as they send a strong message. You can wear your t-shirt or hoodie at the company retreat without saying a word (or at least not having to use your physical voice to speak).

My merchandise is a form of empowerment because it represents what needs to be said but is not often being said or discussed in work environments. This brand was birthed from a conversation that then turned into an article. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that playing diversity is often the norm, not the exception in organizations.

Yes, we want change in our workspaces, but do we engage in actions that promote that change? Are we willing to be the change that is needed to promote a safe environment for our colleagues?

Although I love generating passive income as a business woman, I want my online store and products to represent voices that are needed in spaces where people of color and women often are not always present.

Check out the new merch and let me know what else you'd like to see. As always, thanks so much for your support. Don't forget to take a leap of faith and launch those ideas that are going to change the world.
